The design

Saltö is a lounge and dining collection by Matilda Lindblom with a distinctly Scandinavian look. The dining chair has a gently curved charcoal grey aluminium frame, a rope backrest and a soft greyish white cushion, and it is almost maintenance-free.

Rain runs straight off the Sunbrella-covered cushion, and the quick-drying outdoor foam inside lets any moisture escape.

Materials and comfort

The frame is powder-coated aluminium in charcoal grey with a rope backrest. The seat and back cushion, included, is covered in greyish white outdoor fabric over quick-drying outdoor foam.

Powder-coated aluminium

Aluminium is light yet rigid, and it does not rust, which makes it ideal for outdoor furniture. Skargaarden frames are chemically pre-treated, then coated with a powder that is applied electrostatically and baked on. The result is a hard-wearing, scratch-resistant polyester finish with built-in UV resistance that protects the metal even further.

• Clean with clear water and a little liquid detergent.
• Use a soft brush to lift dirt from the surface texture if needed.
• Avoid abrasive cleaners and scouring pads, which can damage the coating.

Outdoor fabrics

Skargaarden's outdoor fabrics are solution-dyed: the colour is added while the fibres are made, so it runs right through every fibre rather than sitting on the surface. This makes them highly UV-resistant, so they keep their colour in the sun, and they come with a minimum 5-year warranty. Fabrics woven with recycled fibres can vary slightly in colour.

• Brush off dirt regularly before it works into the fabric, and deal with spills straight away.
• Blot liquid spills with a clean, dry cloth; do not rub. For oily spills, sprinkle on corn starch to absorb it, then scrape it off.
• For stains, spray on a mild soap solution, work it in gently with a sponge or very soft brush, rinse thoroughly and let the fabric air dry.
• The fabrics do not grow mildew themselves, but it can grow on dirt left on them. To remove it, mix about 250 ml bleach and 60 ml mild soap in 4 litres of water, spray over the whole area, leave for 15 minutes, clean with a sponge or soft brush, rinse well and air dry. Treat the whole surface to avoid water rings.

Winter storage

• Store the furniture indoors, or cover it with a breathable cover. A cover that is fully airtight traps moisture and can cause mould.
• Leave a small gap between the cover and the ground so air can circulate.
• Store the cushions separately, indoors and out of reach of pests.
